Luca Aerni was born in Châtel-Saint-Denis on 27 March 1993.
The Swiss athlete specialises in special slalom, giant slalom and combined.
He grew up in Crans-Montana, where he fell in love with sport, in particular skiing and football. He continued both activities throughout his adolescence, until aged 14 he decided to devote himself entirely to skiing, abandoning his goalkeeper’s gloves.
Luca began taking part in FIS events in 2009, has taken 3 podium places in the European Cup and, despite his young age, can already boast a major success at international level: at the 2017 Alpine World Ski Championships in St Moritz, he won gold in the Combined.
2017 was also the year when Luca shone in the Alpine Ski World Cup. On 12 November he almost made the podium in Levi, finishing 4th in the special slalom. On 22 December, on the 3-Tre piste at Madonna di Campiglio – a very special place for Colmar – he took 2nd place in the slalom, finishing behind Marcel Hirscher. The first podium of his career in this competition.
Luca is definitely one of the most promising athletes on the world downhill skiing scene and, since 2017, he has been able to count on our support.
